The article previously published at this URL on 5 October 2026 incorrectly associated CVE-2024-5219 with Podman privilege escalation. That article has been withdrawn. Its exploit narrative, affected-version claims, and remediation instructions should not be used.
What the record actually describes
Wordfence's CVE-2024-5219 record identifies stored cross-site scripting in the Easy Google Maps plugin for WordPress, through version 1.11.15. The affected upload feature permits attackers with Author-level access or above to store scripts that execute when someone opens an affected page. The record was published on 2 July 2024.
This record does not substantiate the previous article's claims about Podman. It is also not evidence of a new October 2026 disclosure.
Using the correct advisory
If you maintain a WordPress installation using this plugin, check the issuing CNA's advisory and the plugin's update information against your installed version. This correction does not recommend a particular current plugin release or assert that a specific site was compromised.
